1 star: battery must be replaced every 2 days for 8 hours of operation; turns on when batteries are low

This box of 2 lamps seemed like good value for money but we now have to replace them - the main problem is that they use battery, each one needs 4 batteries . (AA) and they only last 2 days if you use them over a continuous period like we did (8 hours on, 16 hours off is what we need from task lights). They're said to have three modes that don't work - one of the lights just went back to one mode after about a week, which was fine as we only wanted continuous but wouldn't be good for those who wanted flashing or another mode. The second light has other modes, but only with fresh batteries. When the batteries run low (which they do very quickly) the light goes into a flickering mode and also turns on again after you turn it off; After switching on, it goes back to flicker mode. In this case you can't even turn off the light with the button, it stays on until you remove the batteries. As such, they are very expensive to use, unreliable and cumbersome. Oh, and the rear battery door seemed good at first as it hinges open and stays on rather than taking it off, watching and putting it back on, but the clear plastic is brittle and the hinge mechanism doesn't work. it works fine so it broke after a few weeks and now the "door" won't screw properly to the batteries. The only good things I can say about these lights is that they are bright when the batteries are fresh and they were fairly cheap (not outrageously) which isn't saying much, especially when you have to replace them after a couple of weeks , which kills the price part.
