Review on πŸ”§ Neewer Blue and Black Aluminum Alloy 4.6lbs/2.1kg Removable Counter Weight for Shoulder Mount Rig Stabilizer, Fits 15mm Rods by Melvin Balamani

A reliable counterbalance that makes ALL the difference at a great price.

I hate, I hate how expensive drill rigs and their components are. This isn't electronics (at the lowest level), it's just aluminum. So I tried to build it on a reasonable budget of $500 (which is still a lot for some machined metal!). I have an iKan Fly Offset which is the best in category for about $500 and it's great but it doesn't have a good counter balance. This is madness. Consider holding your heavy camera and glass in front of your face. hrs. Are your hands tired yet? Yes. You NEED a counterweight on the rig to balance it front to back. This makes it heavier overall, but relatively MUCH less heavy on your hands. Putting this counterweight on suddenly made the camera feel light as a feather, and today I was finally able to get the gorgeous, fluid, action-packed shots I've always wanted. I have no idea why some companies try to charge hundreds for a piece of metal, but this is ridiculous. That's great. The only reason it loses the pinion gear is because the thumbscrews aren't tightened. It's very annoying when you try to put on or take off something and the "stretched" position collides with an object in the path. But it's most likely a piece you put on and left there, or at least didn't mess with it, so it's no big deal. And maybe you can replace them if that bothers you. All in all, a much-needed addition to the setup and the key to finally getting smooth, moving footage free from the limitations of the sticks!
