I'm going to be blunt about the stock fan for this processor. I built a $650 gaming rig and installed an Intel i5 9400F on it. I was hesitant to use the stock fan because of the negative reviews on Amazon. Let me testify that I'm using 4 x 120mm case fans with stock fan and my CPU core temperature is maxed out at 68 degrees when playing Modern Warfare at max settings at 130 fps. When surfing the Internet, the chip idles at 38-41 degrees. You can safely use this chip with a standard fan. And it's very quiet too. People reporting hum noise should take a closer look at their setup and look for an alternative source. By the way, I've been building PCs since 1998. My gaming PC setup: Intel i5 9400F processor, 16 GB Patriot DDR6 RAM, 1 GB Geforce GTX 1660 TiSATA SSD, 4 x 120 mm case fans.
