I was pretty sure I didn't need smart bulbs. Who wants to grab your phone to turn it on? Now I'm convinced. But let's go back. I think the advantages of LED lamps are obvious. They last forever, don't break, don't heat up at all, and use virtually no electricity. I know the last part because my house runs on solar energy and I know exactly how much electricity my house uses. The problem I have with LEDs is that I always buy the wrong brightness. They're either garage-bright or matte and yellow. And honestly, in most places, I'd happily read with one and eat with the other. But without actually changing the lightbulbs, you can't have both. Until now. These lamps are customizable. Of course you need your phone, but you can set it to the brightness you like best and then change it if a different situation arises. You can ask Google or Alexa to turn it off or make it brighter. I have a few colored ones that are new and will definitely keep the kids entertained, but work fine as a regular lightbulb too. The app is free and you don't need another expensive hub. It works great with Google Home or whatever you use. So really no obligation. And it's one of the cheapest. You can turn off all the smart lights in your home at the same time. You can set timers or use vacation mode to turn them on and off. I use a Treatlife smart socket to turn on the coffee maker in the morning. You can also use Smart Switches to connect non-electrically connected lights so that they turn on via the switch. The possibilities are endless. Like I said, they're cooler than I thought when I first started thinking about how to use them, and they're comparable in price to regular incandescent bulbs. Highly recommended.
