From the last batch only ONE out of ten worked! Fun, Works, Waterproof, Inexpensive, Lots of Ideas!

I'm updating this review. 07.04.21. I've bought three batches of these and have loved them for what we use (to mark ocean swimmers in the dark) and my previous positive reviews reflect that. I just opened this last batch (purchased in January 2021) today so I could distribute fresh headlights to swimmers and found that out of ten in the pack ONLY ONE worked at all! This is very inconsistent with my previous experience, but it is a huge problem. Of course I missed the return deadline. The problem isn't so much wasted $20 as that I can't rely on the new ones to work. Not sure what to do next but wanted to do this update. Tip: Check all your lights as soon as you receive them, then at least you're in the returns window. To test: screw them in and they should turn on, unscrew them a little to disconnect the battery - that's how they ship, then hope they work when you need them. I gave them a shot (well, just an $18.99 play) in hopes that they could be attached to a float in open water as a "lightweight buoy," and they really can! That works great. I added a partially inflated zipper to allow it to float and then attached it to my suit. But having them (there are 10 of them!) I found another use. It's Christmas time and I get to slip a few into my den behind all the awkward little figures that fall when I reach back and forth to turn on the lights and then turn them on with the remote. (I used "orange" paint and put a sheet of parchment paper on top). We've been toying with adding them to drinks. In milk it was really scary! Once you have bright, multicolored, submersible, remote controlled lights, all sorts of things will happen to you. All of my ten worked. They are supplied loose and must be tightened to snap into place. You can then use the remote control to make a selection. They remember settings (color, strobe, etc.) once turned off with the remote control. But if you turn it off by unscrewing it, there will be a reset. The default is the multicolored rotation, which is great for swimming. (I couldn't find any sports lights that said they could be submerged in water, so I went shopping at the party aisle and had great success with it) The included instructions are in poorly translated English, but it doesn't matter, you will find out for yourself. And the instructions are funny for a chuckle or two. ADDED 12/20/19: When they run out of power (at least I think that's why) they go into a flashing red mode no matter what you set. And in this mode, the remote control does not turn them off. It needs to be lifted and slightly unscrewed. For my use it doesn't matter, but it's interesting. When I think of the advertised use of flower vase lighting at weddings, I find it hilarious! As the party drags on, the vases suddenly start going into red flash panic mode. and the only way to stop this is to fish them out of the vases.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
