Super cute but drains the batteries very quickly

I got it on Saturday and now it's next Thursday morning. 3 AA batteries are already empty. I have it on all the time, nothing flashes, but I already have to change the batteries. What good is a Christmas tree if you can't turn on the lights. I wish it was electric and not battery powered. It's very cute, the tabletop is the perfect size and it's decorated right out of the box. But I want to see it lit, not dark. Add the cost of many batteries for a season when you talk about price.
