Review on Powerful and Convenient: Milwaukee Electric Tool 2470 21 Cordless – Unleash Ultimate Efficiency by Adam Bates

Works great but not intended for use on old PVC that has been exposed to a lot of UV light.

You will need a saw to cut PVC that has been exposed to the sun for a long period of time, as UV exposure makes PVC brittle and breaks under pressure. This cutter is great for PVC that is still malleable. I had 1-1/2" PVC pipes that I installed in 2012 and they went to the check valve and this cutter broke (as expected) all 3 above ground pipes, but it worked absolutely perfectly on the underground portion of those pipes. Me replaced my sprinkler index valve with separate valves so I made a manifold with various fittings and probably made about 30 cuts on 1-1/2" pipe. All cuts were straight and clean, reducing installation time and not having to worry about plastic debris clogging the sprinklers. This cutter also made it easier to cut the pipes as they lay in narrow trenches as all you have to do is place the pipe in the jaws and pull the trigger. The tool has a button for forward and reverse stroke and a button to open the blade to its original position. The whole cutting process takes about 4 seconds and saves a lot of arm muscles by using hand cutters. Mine came with a standard case and battery, but I wish they would offer a version with a packout case.
