So let's keep it simple. As I said, it costs $1200. Why? Because it's a 20MP pocket camera with 4k recording and audio input. As well as an amazing range of focal lengths. Starting with a wide telephoto range from 24mm to 200mm. What's not to like? That's great. However, don't expect photos of birds. Now the long part. As a professional photographer, I expect to own quite a few cameras. At the time of this review I have a Sony A7m2 with a kit lens, as well as a 70200g f4 lens and various other lenses. Sony a6000 + nex 5n, RX100m3, Fuji X100F. Further review III will be RX100m3 and review is for VII. Why is it becoming part of the review? This is because I can compare this camera to some tough competitors before writing this review. In terms of utility I think this camera is 10/10. I used to take the RX100m3 everywhere because of its size. I kept it because it's f1.8 at its widest position, compared to 2.8 for the RX100m7. Now I carry III and VII with me everywhere. However, in the past few weeks I have mainly used the VII because of the range. I know that 90% of my photos never exceed the 70mm range. Found this a third time due to a 2 month trip to Vietnam and Japan where I only took the III and X100F. During this trip I encountered a maximum of 5 times where I wished I had a 200mm range. Well, now I have both. I will upload photos later after this review. Build Quality: 10/10 Basically the same as you'd expect from Sony and its previous RX models. The same high quality. Image Quality: 8/10 Like. Of course it won't compete with the larger cameras I have, but in good light (always key) the image quality is amazing. The range this camera offers helps produce better bokeh portraits compared to the 24-70mm range of previous (non-VI) models. *I think you may disagreeVideo: N/ANot a very video person to be honest. The ability to add a microphone is what really made me buy this camera. That was the selling point for me. Otherwise I wouldn't buy it as I didn't buy VI either. Where does this camera fit in? As expected, I see this camera as perfect for my travel gear. 90% of the time I would use it when traveling, only when I go for a walk at night or in low light do I take the III out. If you know the limitations of this camera, it won't let you down. As already mentioned, it is not suitable for wildlife, but as a portrait and everyday camera. I think it's nailing it. What I want: Seal the weather! Come on Sony, you did a good job with the microphone input. I want to use these cameras in the rain. I really believe in what these little guys are capable of.
