Great price but don't expect perfection from a tin can

I moved into a house that has speakers installed on the porch wall. I was curious if they were any good and if they needed replacing I would still need an amp. This little guy fitted the bill perfectly and the price was great for the fit and finish. The bass and treble controls seemed to have an odd range of adjustment, for example the maximum sounded like the mids should be, but some character of the speakers could have been found. Anyway, I balanced it and it reproduces the sound accurately. I hooked this up to the Echo input, which I now use as my patio music server, and use the Echo device to control the volume. Just tell the Echo to play at "10," then crank the amp controls up to the maximum volume you want to hear. Then tell Echo to stop, maybe at "Volume 6" and enjoy. I later added a headphone splitter from the Echo input and hooked it up to an old Klipsch subwoofer I had laying around. The resulting reduced power isn't enough to turn on the subwoofer in standby, but the amp is fine. To keep the subwoofer present without having to hit the switch on the back or leave it on all the time, I connected the subwoofer and this amp to an external Smart Switch. I then hid all the cables, amps and subwoofers in an external Suncast box with subwoofer breathing holes. Now I say "turn on porch" and I hear a slight click from the speaker indicating the amp is working and ready to play. For reference: I'm a bit of a music lover. I built Zaph Audio BAMTM as main and C notes as 7.1 theater surround sound. Currently working with a 12" Klipsch sub but working on two full size Marty subs with an 18" Ultimax. I used to be a musician too and even played at the North Sea Jazz Festival. I just see a lot of love and hate reviews and was curious about their backstory, so here's a little bit of me. PS: I hate Bose!
