The brightness is decent, but far from 96 watts. The 20 gauge wire on the headlights is too small to carry 96 watts. I connected them to a relay via a wire harness so there is no voltage drop limiting the brightness. These are 100% headlights without front lights. I adapted them for use on the front of my 74 Jeep CJ 5. Very limited space on either side of the winch so I was hoping there would be enough as they fit perfectly. They illuminate the roadside very well up to about 75-100 feet, making them great for low speed off-road use here in East Tennessee in the woods. No help at all, like "high beam". I really need a spotlight and headlight combo for the Jeep, so I'm going to use it on a tractor with a front loader as originally intended. Good light for the money, at least as far as brightness is concerned. The Jeep stays in the garage and I rarely go hunting and fishing in the rain so I don't know about water ingress. As mentioned earlier, mounting brackets can be very difficult to use in anything but ideal situations.
