Over the years I have had several small book lamps for reading in bed. One attaches to the book with a large plastic paper clip, similar to the paper clip you attach to the pages. The other had a clip, similar to a staple. Both had to be plugged into an outlet using an adapter and a cable to the device. None of them were satisfactory; I used them for a couple of nights and then left them in my desk drawer. Not only did you reach for the power cords, but to turn the page you had to unplug, turn the page, and then plug it back in. And that made the book clunky, heavy and unbalanced. However, I was excited when I saw this article for a number of reasons. First, it does not require a power cord. Second, it doesn't fit the book. Third, it's lightweight and hangs around your neck, making it useful not just for reading books, although it's great for reading. After unpacking the device from the small box, you will find two items: the device itself and a short USB charging cable. . See image. The device can curl up in a relatively small space. It shows how flexible this small lightweight is. You hang them around your neck and direct the light to where you need it. Then you don't have to bother with it anymore. It is very comfortable. It is powered by a healthy USB battery. Since its main use - at least in my house - is reading in bed before bed, it's very easy to just plug it in when I'm ready to go to sleep and it's ready to go when I need it the next time. They say it runs for 8 hours on a single charge and recharges in 2 hours. I haven't tested this yet. Is it comfortable to wear? Yes. I use it to read before bed two or three nights a week. It's just convenient and easy. However, it occurs to me that reading comfort in bed depends on how you use your pillows. It is possible that the thicker battery compartment in the neck will be uncomfortable if the neck is flush with the pillow. I don't, so it looks like the thing didn't exist at all, other than the light it was emitting. And it's not just light. Each of the two heads contains two bulbs. Each head has a narrow focus spot beam and a wide focus spot beam. Each head has a small push button switch. One press turns on a lightbulb. Two clicks turn on another lightbulb. The third press turns on both lamps simultaneously. A fourth press turns off both lights. On one of the pictures you can see a small push button switch. There is a switch in each of the two heads, so you have to turn each one on and off individually, which might seem a bit odd at first. But it gives you complete control over where the light goes. It can be used anywhere you need good light to do something up close. I don't knit, crochet or fix cars, but I do photograph books to sell here at Revain and elsewhere. I just sit at my desk and take simple shots that always left something to be desired due to poor lighting. Now I wear my little blue flashlight around my neck and shine the light on the subject I'm photographing. This is a big improvement. If I had to roam the house at night, I would put it on and be able to go anywhere comfortably. I don't need it yet. I suspect that over time I will find more and more uses for this handy little device.
