Impressions from the purchase are good, buy.

The ports, contrary to expectations, were not strained, I took 2 adapters to USB-A and am calm. But for photographers, the lack of an SD card reader can upset. I advise you to take the PCT, because. the warranty is 2 years (according to ZOZPP), and not one (very important for such a keyboard), and you can (and should! ) reassign the useless "±" key to escape using Karabiner It is worth buying a protective case right away, because. the same screen is three times thinner compared to 2022, the device seems more fragile at first. The old proshka worked for 8 years and continues to work. Will this one last that long? There are doubts. It was scary to buy (I read about marriages), but in the end I got a good copy. Despite all the nuances, I still think that this is the best laptop, I personally really like it.

Pros
  • Dimensions: In size closer to the old 13", you can carry in a backpack without straining your back. Performance: 8850H - great CPU, performance in Unity on par with desktop 8700 I was pleasantly surprised by the real data exchange rate (reading ~ 2600, writing ~ 1600, no kidding). I expected a little more from a discrete video card (560X), it is at the level of the desktop Nvidia GTX 560Ti, which is seven years old for a minute (but that one ate 170W, and this one - 35) Screen: Good for everyone: colors, brightness, anti-reflective coating, all sorts of designers will appreciate it. The ratio is 16:10, which is rare these days. (Now the fashion for 16:9 and the fat useless strip under the screen is the guard) TrueTone unexpectedly pleased! I used to use f. Lux / night shift to warm the light, now they are not needed at all. There is a feature: by default, the resolution is similar to 1680x1050 x2 (although the physical one is 1440x900 x2), i. E. there is more space on the screen, but it turns out not "pixel perfect" (noticeable in non-Retina programs) + in the evenings, tired eyes sometimes want to be bigger. I installed SwitchResX and I can change 1440x900-1680x1050-1920x1200 with hotkeys as needed. Trackpad: Huge! Truly the best navigation tool for a laptop today. At first it was unusual and I was afraid of accidental clicks, but they are not. The mouse is not needed. Sound: Very good, there are bottoms, there is a volume margin (I don’t turn on more than 60% in front of me) Good stereo panorama. Touchbar (strip): I was ready to dislike it, but it turned out to be convenient to change the volume and brightness with one movement, it is also quite often more convenient to select dialog buttons like Ok / Cancel on it than to hover with the trackpad. TouchID is very convenient. It is a pity that in half the cases you still need to drive in a password. Cooling: Generally cool and quiet, except for prolonged high loads. Even with a high load, it does not bake the knees the way the old proshka did. If you have it warming up in idle time, then this is a marriage. macOS is still the most convenient operating system for laptops (I'm not sure about desktop anymore)
Cons
  • Price: robbery, but what can you do. There is not much competition, except for the Surface Book 2 (although it is weaker) and the Razer Blade 15, which we officially do not have (= no warranty) and which can cost even more. Keyboard: Pretty controversial. On the one hand, 16/17s are better (more stroke), printing is objectively faster than on a regular laptop, and it is quiet, but: If suddenly something drips on the keys, it's easy to get to replace the entire bottom panel (I filled the old 10-year-old firmware with kvass without any special consequences). Despite the silicone layer, someone on the forums has already clogged the button, it's scary. The use of F-keys in development environments should be abandoned (but they were not very convenient to press before) Until I got used to the buttons by touch. In general, it will do for a laptop. Battery: one side can watch movies/surf the internet 10-11 hours, on the other hand, under heavy load and active use of a discrete video card (gamedev: a running game in Unity + an assembled client) can fly away in at least 2-3 hours The software is still damp (expected when buying a laptop released a month ago): FileVault encryption is contraindicated for the time being (otherwise there will be reboots), periodically, when using iTunes, you have to kill the coreaudiod process. the sound may start to crackle, the touchbar freezes once (but sagged)
