It's a good tank, it's not very heavy when full probably less than 30lbs and I have 2lbs of gravel in it , so it does it doesn't require a special stand as long as it stands firm and flat. The filter is a powerhead with a biological media attachment and creates a flow that is too strong for an aquarium of this size, especially if you are using it on bettas that prefer a slower flow. I detached the air hose that regulates the flow and then I took a small piece of sponge and blocked the outlet and now the water coming out comes right through the top where the air hose was and delivers a good amount of air. Surface swell without really strong current. The lid is a little tricky, if the cords don't lay flat in the right place the lid won't stay open. A tank of this size may not be the best choice for a beginner as you really need to keep up with the maintenance of a 2 gallon tank. Nevertheless, I would recommend it
