When you buy ink for an inkjet printer, there are a few questions you should ask yourself. Do you print on high-quality photo paper to reproduce the photos you take in high quality? Or do you print out notes that have been sent to everyone in the company? Do you need a long lasting print or does the print only need a one year best before date? For my office inkjet printer, I use inexpensive third-party ink to print whatever items I need to distribute around the office. And this approach works great (also on a Canon printer, by the way). But when I'm printing photos I've taken and want the A3+ (13" x 19") size to be suitable for cropping, I only use Canon professional printer paper (matte or one of the glossy types) and there are not a substitute for ORIGINAL Canon inks. Yes, it's terribly expensive. But it makes a world of difference when you're printing photos on high-quality paper for display. That way, you get the right colors, smooth operation, and a print that will last for years before fading. These inks are very expensive, but they're also irreplaceable: they work great, they look great, they print the right colors, they usually fade for a long time, and so on. It hurts to recommend them at this price. But again, it's hard NOT to recommend them if you want good prints, especially if you're a semi-professional or avid photographer and the difference in the final print is obvious. Most of the prints I get on my PIXMA ix6820 using genuine Canon inks and their high quality matte and premium papers look surprisingly good, sometimes showing a sharpness and clarity that I don't even notice on my 4K monitor! So five stars. For printing photos, this is the best way.
