Review on SecureFit Climbing Style Safety Helmet With 6 Point Suspension, Non-Vented & Scotchlite Reflective - Hi-Vis Green Construction Helmet (X5014X-ANSI) By 3M by George Bridgewater

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good Adjustability. Great Protection.

This new style PPE Helmet has a nice look to it. I am reviewing the Non-Vented Version in White. I personally would get the Vented Version in whatever color suited me.In the residential construction industry these are not only for protection of things falling on your head but also for you falling, thus the chin strap is a must. I agree with others on this that the strap isn't the most comfortable. I was also surprised to see that there wasn't a band to secure the extra length of strap that you pull past the buckle when tightening it. On the review unit there is about 5 inches of loose strap hanging from the chin buckle with nowhere to secure it. I will add a rubber band to do so but I shouldn't of had to. I suppose this will be corrected or perhaps I got a pre-release version. Either way you should check for that. The chin strap is also a bit uncomfortable. The strap is a hard weave that is about 3/4" wide and can dig into your soft under-chin area. It does need some padding there. As far as the rest of the helmet. well I really like it. The quick adjust head strap via the turn knob at the back is a perfect way to dial in a great fit. The two point strap locations at forward and rear keep the strap from crossing over your ears as well as keep it securely on your head to resist front to back motions. The inners pads and straps keep your head about an inch from the top of the helmet's shell. This provides for a lot of dampening during an impact. It is a great helmet in all other respects. There is an easily removable and washable forehead pad. Love that feature. Now if only there was a padded chin strap. it wold have been 5 stars for me if so. As is it gets a solid 4.
