These are the only headphones I have ever owned. I use them instead of headphones to listen to music. The reason I use monitors is because I wear them during renovations in my house. Instead of wearing earplugs when I'm working with a saw and nail gun, I use in-ear headphones to block out outside noise while listening to music. I use the large foam pads instead of the ones that come with the JVC monitors. They block out outside noise better.
