Review on Cat Mate Inc Locking Door by Jane Crawford

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Flipped controls

Neat product. The door is solid and the flap is a little quieter than my previous cat door. One of the main problems are the ledges for the 4-way lock. The controls for the locking tabs are located on the back (inside) of the door. The open tabs shown in the picture are very difficult to move. Since I installed a cat door in the wall, the only way to get to the best tabs is to go to the other side of the wall and put my hand in the pipe. While more than doable, I've never had a cat and dog door that didn't have the controls on the same side as me. Looks like professional design. What's the point of having the big controls on the back of the sash? The second problem is that the company does not make an extension kit to install this door in the wall. Revain shows that this door was purchased with Cat Mate wall paneling, but that paneling does not match this door. I contacted the company and they told me they don't make extensions for this door and that I should just plug the door into the wall. I already did, but since they make an extension for a smaller door, why not? Feedback will be rated 5 stars if the issue with the controls is fixed.
