You need a working and stable wired network for everything is working. You then need to install applications on different devices to be able to access this product from your TV. The native app is practically useless for anything other than live streaming. And even for that, the user interface is not enough. To replace something like a TiVo, you need at least a fully functional network, a device, a network-connected TV, and a separate place to store your recordings. If you want to record, you need to pay more. I wouldn't go with a native DVR as it has very few features and requires a subscription. Plex is better, but now you have to set up a Plex server and pay again. Frankly, it's hard to see how this extremely complex solution even fits into the same category as TiVo. He has no functions. It has many more vulnerabilities. And you still have to pay a monthly fee to get very few features. Missing features: (Plex included) - Fast forward and rewind where you can actually see the video going faster - Keyword or time recording of the show - Faster playback speed of the recordings. Convenient commercial pass (Plex has it, but the implementation sucks). Sort shows by something other than recording date. You have to make it work.
