Review on Faster Bottling Made Easy with the FastRack 4008 Colt Strong Bench Capper Multicolor – One Pack! by Christine Cepeda

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A huge upgrade over the manual capper.

This thing saves lives. I had the standard manual capper that came with my homebrew kit, but on my last batch it failed to cap nearly 1/3 of my bottles (seemed to slip most of the time); not what you want to get by spending time and money on a 5 gallon batch. It's obviously a lot more expensive, but if you're not planning on having a keg, I think it's a must-try. I just completed another batch and capped 50 bottles in literally a quarter of the time without a single mistake using at least 5 bottles of different styles/brands. It's very heavy and I highly recommend mounting it to something. I bought a 2" x 6" piece of wood from Menard's for $2 and I can operate the thing with one hand if I want to. You can use it without a mount, but you need to hold it. I would recommend training with her a few times. At first I set it too high and it didn't curl the lids. The tip should be right over the bottle and you need to apply enough pressure, but you will feel the cap "give". pull down. Once you get the hang of it, it's great. If you have bottles of different heights, you can separate them in batches and cap them, so you don't have to constantly adjust the height.
