Works great and convenient! I'm ordering a few more for Christmas gifts.

Update 1/23/14: Handle with care and you will not regret your purchase. I won't revise my assessment, but I will make an additional comment. It may not be as strong as I thought. It's a bit delicate given how small it is. I bought another one and the connection between the gooseneck and the lamp came loose which I fixed with tape. I think the person who adjusted it grabbed the lamp part to move it, but this is done to adjust it by moving the gooseneck part. I would still buy one if I want that kind of light. I just got it 30 minutes. back and have been testing it ever since. Lighting conditions are wonderful. I find the lamp solid, both gooseneck and plastic. (but see above, the junction between the lamp and the gooseneck can be brittle). The illustration on the back of the box is helpful. The USB/DC cable is approximately 1.12 m long for maximum placement flexibility. Batteries are not used when using the USB port for power, even if the adapter is not connected to your USB port. Simply plugging in an adapter bypasses the batteries. It works great with a USB port without batteries. The clip opens wide, but since it's a wide-mouth clip with a narrow spine, it may not clamp as well as you would ideally like. I have a laptop that is covered by an external monitor and keyboard for ease of use. I clamped the light well enough on the front of the closed laptop; about an inch thick. However, it snaps perfectly at 1/2" thick (the width of the small 1/2" thick shelf that my laptop sits under with the monitor on). I think rubberized material can be glued to the inside of the clip to make it less slippery if that's what you want to do. space, you can easily do that. If you take it out of the box and decide to put it back as a gift, the first thing to notice is how it's wrapped. I had trouble returning it properly.
