I prefer to keep my keys on a belt loop than in my trouser pocket, the universal carabiner is perfect for that. However, I often have to enter secure areas where knives or most bladed tools aren't allowed, so on more than one occasion I've had to return to my car and separate the keys to the multi-tool, or leave it to a security guard to throw it away.
