I use it on 3 10 gallon tanks which should be more than enough but it is very noisy! Trying to adjust the airflow is tricky as it gets louder as the airflow increases and the lower you set it the less it works. I have 4 sponge filters total, one tank has 2 small 5 gallon sponges and the other two have 1 sponge each (up to 20 gallons each), 2 of the tanks get enough flow and the 3rd no unless it's on high volume set. then 2 others get too much air. All tanks are mounted on a rack system, stacked on top of each other, the air pump is next to the top tank, but it still barely works - I have to buy additional equipment to adjust the airflow. I'm actually looking at a new pump.
