I like that they sit above the calf. I am a horse rider and appreciate the extra length because these socks will not fall off when riding and doing housework. They also provide extra insulation. I trail tested them during a five day trip after Christmas. The minimum dropped to 25 degrees and the maximum was about 33. It rained and snowed while I was driving. Along with my ladies' kenetrek boots, these socks kept my feet warm and dry. These are the best socks I have! I will buy a few more.
