There was a slight chemical odor when the bag was first opened, but it disappeared after a few washes. Also, I LOVE these pants! I always dress my kids in comfortable clothes and usually have to resort to fleece pants for my son, but so far they've been fantastic. They have a bit of stretch so are more comfortable than regular jeans, the crotch/seat area is a little roomy so my child can still be active in them and not be restricted, but the feet are not rough so they still look sharp . The elastic waistband is also a godsend, since my son is not yet able to get the button and zipper to work properly. I am in the process of buying two more pairs in different washes and I hope they will be as great as this first pair. Pay special attention to which style you choose - they are all different! Some styles are thinner, wrinkle easier, and have different sizes for each style, so one style of pant was almost an inch shorter than the other.
