I was looking to buy an OEM Mercedes water pump for almost $300 so I decided to give this pump a try as it was a lot cheaper. I inspected the water pump and it had some minor blemishes on the outside edges, but that didn't affect performance. The gasket that comes with this pump is made of a paper and carbon-like material and is nothing like the original. The original is made of aluminum or metal. I decided to buy a genuine Mercedes gasket for less than $15. I called my local dealer and asked for my VIN number. I installed an upgraded seal with this pump and torqued the bolts to spec. After a week I am very satisfied. I would also suggest buying a thermostat when replacing your pump. **** Update January 2022: So far, so good. I am very happy with my purchase. Glad I went with the Mercedes OEM seal, who knows if the seal that came with the pump would fail sooner rather than later. Very good buy after 30 days of daily driving.
