Review on πŸ¦‡ LEGO Batman Batmobile Building Set: Unleash Your Inner Superhero! by Aaron Cruz

Almost life size

Before you buy this, just know it's big. It's a bit longer than Billy's IKEA bookshelf, so don't think you'll put it there. The detail reflected in its sheer size is amazing. This Batmobile is nothing short of curves, and thanks to a genuinely creative use of detail and some building techniques that dance to the edge of illegality, so is this Lego set. Minifigure scale, the three included minifigures cannot ride inside. Well they can, but they're so much smaller than the seat that they look ridiculous. Batman can't even do that. His magnificently flowing cloak prevents him from doing anything other than assuming a heroic stance. Total build time was about 10 comfortable hours spread over three days, 24 numbered bags and 619 steps. Most decorations use stickers, although 7 of these come pre-printed with designs. You get a working steering system, machine guns that are raised/lowered by the rear jet engine, and a sliding cockpit canopy. The instruction book could have benefited from a spiral binding and suffers from a lack of contrast between the black, dark gray and brown parts. Unless you're working in very bright light, you'll shoot the wrong color a few times and then have to come back later. Just accept it as part of the process. It's worth it.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • A dubious purchase for the elderly
