The tail is very well made, keeps its shape and can withstand a lot. Anyone who is genuinely concerned about theft of the baggage itself or its contents is wrong, as this product provides a "reasonable" deterrent to such fraud in "reasonable" situations. But we all know the ability of a determined thief to breach a "reasonable" level of security. That being said, I give this Chase Harper Aeropac 4000 rear rack a very high rating. I consider myself a "reasonable" person with over 35 years of motorcycling experience and I absolutely love this product. The easily accessible and integrated mounting hardware is well thought out and fits my BMW RT passenger seat. I've never really thought about carrying it as a backpack, but with so many things I carry with me these days, I'll give it a try. In any case, it's nice to have the opportunity. I don't regret buying these at all.
