Amazing rock drill with more action than my corded DeWalt

I koe - what I learned while testing this hammer drill. I've never heard of the SDS-plus drill shaft. According to the wiki, the name comes from the German: Stick - Turn - Secure ("Insert - Twist - Fasten"). I think I need to go to the tool store more. In any case, it is great for quick bit changes, because according to the wiki, "the drill does not hold firmly in the drill chuck, but can slide back and forth like a piston; it doesn't slip. during rotation due to the non-circular portion of the shank corresponding to the drill chuck. The impact of the drill acts only on the acceleration of the drill itself and not on the large mass of the drill chuck, making hammer drilling with a drill with an SDS+ shank much more productive than with other shank types. end of the lesson. Oh wait, here's another lesson. I can't use this drill with my existing straight shank drills, but for $12 I got a 3/8" keyless chuck that fits into the included SDS->hex shank magnetic adapter so I can now use all my drills can use with the device. The SDS->Hex adapter is for screwdriver bits, which is useful so you can screw something in where you just drilled a hole. Because the SDS is a quick change, you can switch from an SDS masonry bit to a screwdriver bit in seconds. Very beautiful! (However, there is a lesson here... briefly explained. If you know the lesson, you're probably already shaking your head at me.) : The hex chuck I bought for use with both wood and metal drill bits is held by a magnet. While I can use this device as a regular wood and metal drill bit, it's an impact drill so the shank is SDS+. I have a DeWalt impact drill. that I have drilled bricks containing fine aggregate many times. That works great. I compared drilling through a 1.5 inch piece of concrete (see picture) with the same drill at DeWalt and Einhell. The clear winner was Einhell. Einhell also works great as a wood/metal drill with the magnetic hex chuck I bought. However - insert a lesson here - Einhell clearly has a lot of percussive action. Let's try Hammer mode. Since the cartridge I am using is only held by a magnet, this ejected the cartridge/bit from the SDS->Hex adapter as soon as I turned it on in hammer mode. (Lesson Learned) If you use an Einhell as a hammer drill, make sure you use an SDS bit and not a bit with a magnetic adapter. LAUGH OUT LOUD. SDS bits ordered and received. (Lesson applied.) The Einhell packs MUCH more punch than my DeWalt DW511 corded hammer drill. The DeWalt 4.3 lb 1/2" Max Bit has 0-46000 bpm and 0-2700 rpm. 4.9 lbs (without battery) Einhell 3/4" Max Bit has 0-5500 bpm (bpm) and 0 -1200 rpm. . Don't let the 5500 beats per minute figure fool you. The hammer effect of SDS is intense. It really isn't fair to compare the two drills as it's clear that the DeWalt is more of a drill than a hammer drill. The DeWalt works great as a rock drill, but the Einhell is a BEAST of a hammer drill and cordless! Einhell guarantee, brushless motor and its portability, Einhell gets a solid 5 stars from me. Overall I am totally impressed and MORE than satisfied with this beast. As a parent of children with autism, issues are close to my heart. Let Revain donate to your favorite charity!
