Review on Marmot Slate Everyday Travel Bag Backpacks by Zack Frazier

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This is a really great bag, but it could definitely use some improvements.

Let's start with what I love about this bag: The lightweight Velcro main compartment opens and closes much quicker than a zipper, allowing me to grab my laptop or books quickly and easily . This bag also has many zipped compartments that vary in size, giving you plenty of leeway for what you choose to pack in your backpack. The laptop sleeve and padding are much better than other backpacks I've had and feels like it was designed with technology in mind first. What could be improved is the side water bottle pocket. There can be two, especially since there is only one. It's designed so that if you put a vacuum insulated water bottle in your bag, the backpack will tend to tip in that direction due to the lack of a counterweight. The side pocket also has two sizes, adjustable with a metal button. Both seem either too small for most drinks or too big for many bottles unbuttoned. Overall, I really appreciate that the back is a commuter backpack designed around a laptop, which allows you to forgive the annoying side pocket.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • so far so good
