USB is used everywhere. Anything that requires battery power can be supported via USB. My Verio IQ meter is now USB powered. My favorite flashlights now charge via USB, saving batteries. As the power bank is falling in price but rapidly increasing in capacity and efficiency, USB is an excellent backup power source. These inexpensive cables WORK WELL. Yes, they require a charging station rather than a direct connection to the radio, but it's still very effective. The base is quite small and light. A great addition to any "COMMO GO-BAG". highlighted.
