After reading the reviews I decided to purchase even after reading the negative. I think the company read the reviews and fixed the issues raised as the zippered pillowcases are now foldable and the only smell came from the plastic packaging and went away after washing. Colors are sensitive to your monitor, surroundings and lighting - but overall I'd say it's a neutral palette that tends to make the quilt lighter than you think - as they say it goes with almost anything fits. As far as softness goes, it's ok - not the softest straight out of the box, but still comfortably soft after the first wash and will likely get softer after a few more washes. I really like the sizing, usually King doesn't make them low enough on the sides to look really good, but this one does. In the description this is listed as a spring/summer duvet. This is a well-made, lightweight, soft cotton material. I am happy with this purchase.
