Review on Super Stainless Double Edge Blades by Lisa Montgomery

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Glide gently over my coarse beard - very sharp, very smooth and strong.

These blades slide easily over my very coarse beard but are one of the cheapest blades on the market! Due to my coarse mustache, I like to do the last pass against the fibers, which requires extra sharpness and smoothness (and a light touch). My 1962 Gillette Super Speed Razor from Ebay came with a set of these razors which I added to a 35 Blade Sampler (7x5) (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UIZFQW). have. I tried every blade and was very surprised to find that the SuperMax gave me the best shave ever, even compared to the springs which were in #2. On the first shave they glide over my beard almost as much as the Feather, but on the second and third shaves they hold up much better than the Feather - still sharp and smoother. Most decent blades in the sampler set deteriorated significantly after Shave 3 (if I went that far); Super Max SS is still very good at shave 3 and even more tolerable after that. I don't know how other Super Max blades compare. Information is hard to come by, although consensus seems to be that 'super' is better ie Super Platinum is better than Platinum, Super Stainless is better than Stainless. If someone suggested a Super Max Wide Sampler I would try it. Super Platinum or Titanium could be even better!

Pros
  • Beauty & Personal Care
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others
