My company sells electric standing desks that I use sometimes. With WFH and sitting 8+ hours a day, sometimes in meetings all day, I itch to be able to get up and work once in a while. I knew I definitely wouldn't stand often enough to justify spending several thousand dollars on a regular sit-stand desk like the Uplift. So I came up with the idea of investing in a monitor arm to elevate my monitor. All I needed was a small table to elevate my keyboard/mouse. There aren't many options on Revain. Some of the keyboard/mouse ergonomics don't really leave much room for the mouse, and the build quality looks poor due to the sheer amount of plastic parts. I was about to give up until I came across this article. It's primarily sold as a monitor stand, but looks like I could use it for my needs. Although the price is very embarrassing. Just use it as a keyboard/mouse stand. But it had the dimensions I was looking for, wide enough to hold a full-size keyboard and over 7 inches of mouse space. It couldn't be too deep to take up much table space. a foot deep, it fit the bill. The last requirement was the ability to adjust the height. Most keyboard stands use a plastic "X" mechanism. I didn't like it as I thought it would wobble and squeak. What I liked about this article was the idea of legs of different sizes that can be screwed into one another. This is a more permanent and durable construction. My only concern was that the legs of this object didn't look very strong in the photos. The company claimed it could hold 40 pounds and I think they had a photo of young children standing on it. Part of the MDF material is covered with some kind of final textured vinyl coating (scratch/defect tent and non-slip). The threaded nuts that the legs screw into are slotted into the countertop, which is nice because you're not driving screws into the wood, and the slotted nuts feel heavy-duty. The segmented legs were a really nice surprise. They're a good weight, die-cast, and don't feel like cheap flimsy aluminum alloy that bends/breaks easily. They can still be aluminum alloy, but they're very thick, 5/8 inch thick. They are not hollow in the middle but have a solid core, which is probably why they are strong. The threads are pretty good, so the segments screw into each other with relative ease. They bind a little if screwed in too tight. I could lube them with WD-40 a bit later, but I don't have to. Overall the product came in nice packaging and it's pretty clear how to assemble it - (4) legs and a table. I also wanted to add that there are round plastic legs on the bottom of each leg that feel like they are heavy duty. This minimizes scratching of wooden tables. And if that's not good enough, they include (4) round 3M felt pads to attach to the underside of the plastic legs. It was very nice considering the 3M mark is 180lbs on it (but I won't) . For my needs it worked great in conjunction with my monitor arm. Using the wireless keyboard/mouse I have helps. Because it made my idea work, I should have paid the price. What made it more palatable was the appealing build quality and the inclusion of premium thoughtful elements such as plastic feet, 3M felt pads, etc. This is a very well thought out item. There is plenty of room for my keyboard and mouse. I also have space to write notes. The ONLY CONS I have is that the process of making the metal legs left a stinky smell on them. This is the typical smell you get when you buy metal products made in China. I don't know what it is but it smells like bad BO or something. This was easily fixed by wiping down the legs and table with some household cleaner. While I don't use them as monitor stands I think they will work very well for dual or heavy oversized monitors as described.
