I bought this little plasma ball after my wife took my kids to the science museum. My eldest son commented that he would like to buy one when he grows up. He had no idea they were so cheap. My kids love it! This is a great visual aid for kids to learn about natural forces like electricity. I grew up in a time when children usually got gifts: microscopes, globes, chemistry kits, etc. Only criticism is that it can be plugged in or used batteries, but this is not mentioned in the instructions. I think it will be a science lesson for me if the batteries explode while he is also connected to the network. JK won't do it!
