Review on Brother QL-1100 Professional Thermal Label Printer: Wide Format, Postage, and Barcode Capabilities (Black) by Micheal Esquivel

Revainrating 1 out of 5

The most disappointing machine I've ever owned. Do not buy.

If you look at my reviews you will see that I have a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews. I can always find value in a product, but this printer is one of those devices that I've come to despise. I hate it and I mean I want to take this printer and throw it out the window but unfortunately my house is a one story house and the rumble it will make in the grass isn't even worth the trouble. amazing printers i love (2270 if i remember correctly) and this thing has run for years without a single failure so when me and my wife needed a thermal postal printer to avoid having to cut and glue printouts. to our packages it was not difficult for me to buy this QL-1100. It's still brand new, I'm "test print" and have tried different brands of ribbon in this thing to try and get it to print properly, but it's not working. I consider myself very tech savvy, but regardless of the brand the manufacturer claims for interchangeability of this device, none of them work. Why is this ? Because Brother differentiates its ribbons by just a few mm from standard printers to force you to buy their own brand. And even if you buy a Brother brand for 4x6 label printing, it still doesn't work. I get a feed, a nice print, and as soon as it cuts that label, it pulls the next label back far enough for it to fall out of the ejection area. So now you have to open the lid, align the next label and maybe print a blank label and a real label and then start this whole mess all over again. AVOID THIS PRINTER! you have been warned

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
