Not Crash Tested: Car Harness

I bought X-Large/31" for my 60 lb dog who has been eating my nylon restraint for over 30 years and has only recently started to care more While looking for products, I found the Pet Safety Council site and there I saw to my shock and dismay product after product failing on test dummies I then had a lengthy chat with /council founder - 1 Woman Show - and gathered even more information. To my dismay and shock again - there are no government/industry standards for pet car safety like there are for child seats. Woman bless her heart fought the battle we all have to fight, but without Success, and years have passed (!) She collaborated with Suburu on this book but struggled to get money for very expensive studies eitโ€ or "crash testsโ€. Product development, including testing, is too expensive for manufacturers. The Pet Safety Council founder received various negative responses when inquiring about vehicle safety standards. No one seems interested in funding because it's not for "the people." But of course, the safety of pets in a vehicle IS human safety โ€” a dog flying during an accident is like a rocket. Dogs can and do fly out of windows, which can cause harm not only to passengers, but also to other motorists. Of course, as pet owners, we too are concerned about the safety of our pets, but if we're to advocate for making vehicles safer for pets, it seems we need to address a potential human risk. The dot org Pet Safety Center is a website for more information. I hope that as owners we can come together and make a difference in production for our fur babies and families.
