We have a karaoke machine at home and rarely use it. But this mic is so easy to use and portable that you can take it anywhere. It has a volume switch that you need to turn on when you use it for the first time. It has an echo button which is a lot of fun. It projects sound really well without being overpowering. We recently took him in the car for a long wait while a family member was at the front desk. My grandchildren liked it very much. We had a lot of fun singing our favorite songs. Time passed and no one noticed. I see this also works well for meetings when you need to let everyone know it's cake time or need to make an announcement. Or in an office meeting when you just need to be heard a little better. I'm considering buying another one in a different color. So much fun, recommend 100%
