This unit takes a little work to initially program (a few minutes after you download the manual), and wiring it is very easy but requires basic electrical skills (stripping wires, crimping, reading diagrams). There is quite a bit of flexibility, but changing some of the settings without knowing what you are doing (particularly the PID terms) can interfere with its proper functioning. It works great in a chest freezer that I have converted to a temperature-controlled enclosure, and after using the autotune feature it is reasonably stable considering how I have upset the system by opening and closing the lid, removing things from the freezer, etc. I have ordered a couple more for other projects, and I am looking forward to getting everything wired up and running! I am not looking to replace my PolyScience immersion circulator with a home-grown version, but for precise cooling this is definitely my go-to item.
