I've used them to light up the stairs from my garage to my house - I've always tried opening the semi-lit door from the garage . Installing traditional AC lighting was an expensive proposition, so I looked for a battery-powered alternative. These lights turned out to be just the ticket. The motion sensor turns the light on when entering the stairwell and stays on long enough to climb the stairs and open the door before automatically turning off. The battery is great - it's the most used entry point to the house and also the basement so the lights are probably on 5-10 times a day.
