These shorts appear to be well tailored and made of soft material. I'm 5'4", 130 lbs. hips and a borderline S/M for the waist, so I increased and took a size medium. The waist fitted well, but the hips should have been looser, it was a bit tight, and there were small pockets and fabric to put on. Can't comment on how they feel when you walk in them, or how they hold up in the wash since I sent them back Definitely ordering one size bigger if not 2 sizes.
