My office bookshelf has two lamps mounted in a false gable. They came with halogen bulbs, which had all the problems that came with that: too hot, too short a lifespan. These lamps have addressed those ailments. They matched the lights on my bookshelf at the office perfectly. They are bright enough to illuminate the display case shelves (top 3 shelves with glass inserts) through the 3rd shelf. Surface mount LEDs provide just the right amount and shade of light. Even after prolonged burning, they are only lukewarm. Can't comment on durability as I've just installed them, other than expecting a significant increase in lifespan considering the surface temperature has dropped dramatically compared to halogen bulbs.
