I ordered this for a Standard Poodle mix puppy who is currently 13lbs and is slim. I ordered a small one and it's too big. It goes around her neck, but the part that stretches is so long that it gets tangled in her mouth and weighed down with a line, so it's basically just hanging. I tried it on my 15 lb Havana and it was bulky too. She will weigh 45 pounds fully grown so I will let you know as soon as she is fully grown. Although it seems durable, I think a medium and larger size would be a good buy, but for small dogs, even a small one is too big. In terms of function, it appears to do what it says on the tin: it tightens when pulled and then relaxes to a flat state. It doesn't straighten up to its original position when I carry it on my dogs, but it straightens up when I try it with my hands. However, this may be because the size is too big for my small dogs, so don't let that put you off.
