I bought 3 of the best they have to offer and this one really was the best. They all claim to be one-handed, but they really are, especially when you decide not to hard mount it but to install it again and again into a same sized hole. The other two designs require you to turn a knob about halfway down on one side. Therefore, you are already leaning on purpose. On gate number one, my hand kept slipping off the handle because it was too slippery and I needed another hand to lock it. At gate number two, the handle felt better in the hand and was easier to fix in places of the same width. But sometimes there wasn't enough grip travel to do this without readjusting the gate. Trust me, save your money and buy this gate from the start. You will not regret it. And buy a trail, your dog will likely climb right over it if you buy it for it. My pup had no problem passing all three gates when he was about 5 1/2 months (18 pounds). He only respects the goal when I'm at home.
