Review on High-performance Aluminum Thunderbolt 3 Dock with HDMI 2.0, 60W Laptop Charging | Certified for Windows PC and MacBook Pro (Excludes USB-C Ports without Thunderbolt Logo) by Tom Lawson

the dock itself is fine, but the included Thunderbolt 3 cable is unusable

The Bad: I think some of this is me for honestly not looking at the accessories that come with The cable that came with a dock is useless, it's literally 18 inches long, if so I was expecting something between 4 and 6 feet long for what I put in it. I would have thought that for something that qualifies as a home use docking station, a cable much longer than 18 inches would be fine. Thing is I wanted to be able to position my laptop away from the dock rather than right next to it as I have to deal with the current cable that came with the dock when I realize that the dock comes with a comes with such a short cable, I would probably check out another brand that offers a longer cable (4ft or more) with their dock. I'm not sure why this doesn't bother other people but I would consider where you want to place your computer with the dock when purchasing this TB3 dock due to the short cable length. If you're charging $230 for something that's essentially a fancy USB hub, I think you could charge an extra $10 and give the customer a more convenient cable that actually fits into something, not a cable that twists and turns really worth it If you just want to use it properly I have to shell out an extra $40-$60 next to your laptop to get a 1.5-2 meter cable. So there is a star deduction for that. The other thing that really bothered me was that the cable shipped my super expensive dock in something other than a clear plastic bag. There was no strong box for this customer, or even a padded envelope (at least the retail packaging protected the dock from damage). . I think I should be thankful it wasn't stolen because the clear mailer showed exactly what the item was, hence another star deduction. Good: So far I have only been able to use some of the functions. The docking station is enjoying the charging bandwidth so far, I've also connected a couple of external USB hard drives to transfer information and they seem to be working fine, and so far the USB audio functionality is working well. I may update this review as I get more use out of the dock
