the dock itself is fine, but the included Thunderbolt 3 cable is unusable

The Bad: I think some of this is me for honestly not looking at the accessories that come with The cable that came with a dock is useless, it's literally 18 inches long, if so I was expecting something between 4 and 6 feet long for what I put in it. I would have thought that for something that qualifies as a home use docking station, a cable much longer than 18 inches would be fine. Thing is I wanted to be able to position my laptop away from the dock rather than right next to it as I have to…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Not everything fits

I bought an HP 4k monitor to use with my MacBook Pro. I couldn't get the monitor to work with any of my Thunderbolt dongles, so I had to connect the monitor to my MacBook Pro (which also powered my 13-inch MacBook Pro) and also connect the dongle for my peripherals. I've read about external docks choosing between a Cable Matters dock and a CalDigit dock. I had an older CalDigit dock that I used with my old MacBook and it was fine, but I decided based on a few Pricing and Feature Issues for the…

This is the best docking station for MacBook!

If you own a MacBook or MacBook Pro and are looking for a durable and reliable docking station, you've come to the right place. This is the one to buy. Resist the temptation of cheaper USB-C docking stations. Everything you buy gives you a headache when you decide to buy one. USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 are two completely different specifications. USB-C is 10 Gbps and Thunderbolt 3 is 40 Gbps. The USB-C dock *works* on MacBooks with Thunderbolt 3 ports, but the experience will be inconsistent and…

Lost ability to maintain a stable connection with Mac

Although it has been 10 days since shipment, I have not yet fully tested all ports/functions of this docking station. Although I read its specs on Revain, I had to research it further after deploying it. The first issue I found was that this powered dock also powers my Mac and increases the battery indicator to 100% when plugged in. This becomes an issue when my Mac is already almost fully charged and connected to one of the Thunderbolt 3 ports on the dock. Repeated use like this is reducing…

*Was* a good hub for laptop accessories

About half a year. A few weeks ago, my 2019 iMac's fan started spinning high and LOUDLY upon waking up with windows minimally open. I reset my SMC/NVRAM three times (once with Apple Genius). I checked Activity Monitor closely for excessive performance or CPU usage issues, but nothing. Run Apple Diagnostics, fan was fine. Also, the air coming out of the fan* was cool. *Then I read about faulty Thunderbolt peripherals that could cause the fan to overdrive. Since I disabled most of the hard…
