Review on Ancable Replacement Connector Headphones Headset by Anna Fetzner

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works, but not without changing the tonal balance.

I suggest to buy this device together with the Plusivo 60W Soldering Iron Kit for $9.99. Reviewers PLEASE look at the product photos. I found that after a week of messing around, cutting half a foot of wire from my headphones and using half my solder, I wasn't making a proper connection. If you're having trouble with the left audio, use the tiny pin that sticks out from the center of the jack. Headphones don't work without a microphone either. Luckily, my headset has a detachable mic, so I can probably buy a dongle and plug it in. As soon as I plugged it in, I noticed that almost all of the playback was in my left speaker. I went to check the balance and found that my left tone was somehow interfering with my right! boo! I could take my headphones apart and re-solder everything, but I'm lazy and don't want to risk cutting another inch of cable off my wire. I just stick with the balance setting. The mic also didn't work when I tried soldering it in place. Whenever I plugged it in (with the mic soldered on) it made 2 popping noises in my left ear and I had no sound. So I had no choice but not to use the microphone cable. I also had another red wire hidden in a copper wrap. Maybe that could be my basis? The sound of the new jack sounds pretty amazing, very close to my previous jack. That's pretty much the only thing I like about this connector, and the rugged look of the hub (not a soldered hub, but a black case). All in all, if you're looking to spruce up your headphones, maybe buy this limited edition. costs the same as a cardioid or some cheap headphones, I suggest you go above and beyond. Find another brand. Or just go completely wireless!
