These are the best stainless steel sponges for keeping mice out of holes in floors or walls. I stuffed them in the big holes under my braziers and around the pipes and wires that ran through the big gaps in the floor. They're much better than steel wool because, being stainless steel, they don't rust or dust. Scrubbers can be rotated by simply pulling on them, so you end up with a long mass of coiled stainless steel that can be just as thin. as you need it. Be careful not to pull on a strand too hard or you will cut yourself! It was easy for me to cut it to length with scissors. Save cleaning time by holding the cut over a wastebasket or sheet of newspaper because you'll be making small stainless steel cutouts, of course. After wrapping the length around the pipe I also used the tip of my utility scissors to push the stainless steel coil into the slot I was filling. The coil closes, presenting a rodent-proof mass to the frustrated mouse.
