Effective tip for playing vinyl records

I've been listening to my vinyl collection again for a few years now, after switching to CDs in the early 80s. I still had a working B&O turntable that I still use, but I didn't want to put too much strain on this old machine. So I bought some new mid-range turntables, shall we say. The first thing I did was upgrade the cartridges. After a few other upgrades (cables, mats, and record cleaning equipment) I noticed that some of my old records were slightly warped and didn't seem to stick to the disc. thought to try one. And yes, it matters. This particular clip is heavy (16 ounces), attractive, and meets the advertised specifications. There are more expensive and cheaper clips, but I think that's a good compromise. My records now lie flat and sit firmly on the rubber mat. The pickup seems to fit better and of course there is an improvement in the bass. It's a bit more distinct and dare I say musical. I would imagine that this particular clamp might be a little heavy on tables with disc supporting springs. And it's a bit high, so tables with flat tops (like the B&O) might not close without hitting the clip. I will note that I bought lighter weight and shorter clamps for 2 of my tables. Different products, similar result.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • It's ok

One thing I like is that it still lets you see the record ...
