So far so good! on Clothing & Accessories

Ordered this as an alternative to the e-collar the vet sent us home with. My 15 lb 7 month old mixed breed puppy had just been spayed and she refused to eat or drink with a "cone of shame" on her. She was also very nervous and worried because the plastic cone makes all the sounds around her extremely loud and right in her ears! I ordered a suggested size based on actual website recommendations, not the one listed here on Revain, as I saw someone comment that Amazon's sizing recommendation was wrong. The size I ordered for her fits well, snug enough not to give her access to the stitches on her abdominal wound but stretches well to give her air to breathe and not make her feel suffocated to be. My pup is only a few hours but so far she has noticeably improved her attitude, anxiety, playfulness and appetite. She sniffed her butt a few times, tried to lick herself and maybe inspect the stitches in the wound, but quickly realized the suit wouldn't allow her access. She did not touch herself or attempt to gain access to a bath and/or lick her seams. So far - just based on those two things - I already feel like money well spent and would recommend it to others. The fabric is breathable but definitely t-shirt-like, so yes it's expensive for the quality, but you're actually paying more for the peace of mind that your dog isn't feeling extremely uncomfortable and unhappy. The button closures at the back are nice and secure. It needs to be rolled up and removed by the dog so he can go potty, leaving certain wounds available (specifically, in our case, the neutered wound). Never let your dog go to the potty unsupervised. A nice perk is that when you roll up the bottom of the potty suit, it folds up completely, revealing a snap closure that keeps the material on top and out of the reach of urine. That way it doesn't get dirty when your dog urinates. Also, I've found that the extra layer over the wound and skin makes it easier to put ice on her wound for a few extra minutes so she doesn't feel as cold and scared. Cone, but I'll post an update if anything changes! I have also ordered a padded e-collar in case the suit proves to be more of an alternative to a monitored e-collar than a full-time alternative.
