GREAT DOG FOOD - Food

About 6 months ago my 4 year old white Lab started licking and scratching. He developed ulcers around his mouth and other areas. We took him to the vet and they ran tests. The results came back and it turned out he was allergic to turkey, pork, salmon, venison, soy, egg, lamb and duck. Instead of purchasing the recommended products, I purchased the product without the listed ingredients. Unfortunately, he still had symptoms. I tried 5 different foods before deciding to skip chicken as well. After much research, I decided to try Wellness Complete Health Whitefish and Sweet Potato. I can't believe this has changed my dog. Not only did he stop licking and scratching, he became a different dog. For 4 years I just thought he wasn't very clingy. He let you pet him, but only for a moment, before pulling away. Although very friendly, he seemed aloof compared to my other two labs. He just preferred playing alone to running around with other boys. He wants to be petted for the first time now, scratches his stomach, climbs onto the couch just to lie down next to me. He gave kisses, which were very rare. Not only does he play with other dogs, sometimes they even chase him. He still doesn't take it. He seems to have a smile on his face the whole time. He wants to be by my side now and lies at my feet whenever possible. He also loves his new food. It saddens me to think how he must have felt for 4 years. Maybe it hurt to be loved, he couldn't tell me. I'm just glad he can now please himself and everyone around him. Although my other two dogs seem to do well on other foods, I've also started feeding them whitefish and sweet potatoes. My oldest dog, 8 years old, seems to have more courage, at least when it comes to eating. He seems to be jumping to his food bowl and whining the whole time.
